Services at Sukhothai Counsel

Three services, each designed around a specific need

We do not offer a single catch-all family law service. Each of our three services has a distinct purpose, a structured process, and a clear fee — so you can identify what your situation actually calls for.

Our Methodology

How we approach every engagement

Every matter at Sukhothai Counsel begins with the client's account of their situation — described in their own words, without a checklist in front of them. We believe that the quality of the legal work depends on the quality of the listening that precedes it.

After each substantive meeting, we prepare a written summary covering what was discussed, the legal framework that applies, and the options available. This is not a billing note — it is a document the client can read at their own pace before deciding what to do next.

We are transparent about fees at each stage and invoice only for work completed. We do not pressure clients to proceed faster than their situation requires — or at all, if that is the right conclusion.

Listen first

Every engagement begins with an unhurried account of the client's situation in their own words.

Document clearly

Written summaries after each meeting ensure nothing is lost between sessions.

Advise honestly

We describe what we see, including the limits of what legal action can achieve.

Proceed at the client's pace

Each stage begins only when the client is ready and has agreed to the scope of the next step.

Initial consultation
Service 01

Initial Family Matter Consultation

฿3,800 per session

A first sitting for clients weighing decisions related to a family matter who want a careful, confidential conversation before deciding how to proceed. The session covers the client's situation in their own words, an outline of the legal framework that applies, and a written summary the client can take away to consider at their own pace. There is no presumption that further work will follow.

What is included

  • Up to 90 minutes of confidential discussion with a senior practitioner
  • Overview of the applicable Thai family law framework
  • Plain-language written summary delivered within two business days
  • No obligation to proceed with further legal work

Typical process

1Initial enquiry and scheduling
2The consultation itself (up to 90 min)
3Written summary delivered within 2 business days
4Client decides whether to proceed further

Best for: Individuals at an early stage — not yet sure whether they need legal advice, or what kind.

  • Full agreement draft and review with both parties
  • One round of amendments included
  • Finalised document suitable for registration under Thai law

  • Attendance at mediation sessions with the client
  • Debrief and position reassessment after each session

Choosing the Right Service

If you are not sure which service applies, the initial consultation is usually the right starting point. We can advise from there.

Your situation Initial Consultation Marriage Agreement Mediation Representation

One or both parties has foreign nationality or assets abroad
Active dispute, prefer not to go to court
Both parties open to negotiation

Across All Services

Professional standards that apply to every engagement

Strict confidentiality

All communications are covered by legal professional privilege under Thai law. Files are stored on encrypted systems with access restricted to the lawyers involved.

Written records of every meeting

A plain-language summary is delivered to the client within two business days of each substantive meeting — at no additional charge.

Transparent, staged billing

The fee for each stage is agreed before the work begins. Invoices are issued when work is complete, not in advance.

Senior practitioner continuity

The same senior lawyer who meets you at the outset remains your primary contact throughout. Matters are not transferred to junior staff mid-engagement.

One-business-day response

Enquiries and client messages receive a substantive response within one business day during office hours.

Honest assessment

We describe the legal position as we see it — including the limits of what can be achieved — rather than presenting an optimistic view that may not survive contact with reality.
