Client Reviews
In their own words
Siriporn Kanchana
Bangkok, Thailand
"I came to Sukhothai Counsel not knowing whether I needed a lawyer at all. What I left with was a written summary of my situation, an outline of my options, and — honestly — some reassurance that things were not as complicated as I feared. That was worth the consultation fee alone."

James Mackintosh
British national, Bangkok
"My wife is Thai and I'm British. Sorting out a pre-nuptial agreement that would hold on both sides required someone who understood the intersection. Araya was very clear about what Thai law does and doesn't cover, and pointed us towards UK counsel for the parts that fell outside her jurisdiction. That kind of honesty about the limits of your own expertise is rare."

"The mediation itself took longer than I expected — three sessions rather than one. But looking back, I think that was the right pace. Pichit was thorough in how he prepared each round and he never pushed for a settlement that I wasn't comfortable with. The agreement we reached was fair. Four stars because the scheduling took a bit of back-and-forth, but the substance of the work was solid."

Annika Thorsen
Norwegian, resident Bangkok
"I wasn't sure what to expect from a Thai law firm, having dealt mostly with European ones before. What struck me was how much care went into explaining the Thai legal context — not in a way that felt like a lecture, but in a way that genuinely helped me understand what my options were. The written summary I received the next day became the document I referred back to for weeks."

Kanokwan Chantarasombat
Bangkok, Thailand
"My husband and I decided to put a property agreement in writing after a difficult conversation about what would happen if things ever changed. Sukhothai Counsel handled both sides with real sensitivity — they made sure we each had our own intake conversation before bringing us together to align. The process took about four weeks from start to finish."

David Søndergaard
Danish, based in Bangkok
"I was referred here by a colleague who had a good experience. The consultation was thorough and Araya was direct about the limits of what could be achieved through mediation given the specifics of my situation. She actually suggested I wait three months before initiating anything formal — which felt counterintuitive at the time but turned out to be the right call. The dispute resolved itself with a bit of patience."

Case Studies
How matters actually unfolded
These are anonymised accounts of real engagements. Identifying details have been removed or altered.
Case Study 01 — Mediation
The challenge
A couple with shared property across two countries — one in Bangkok and one jointly owned in Europe — needed to divide assets without going to court. They were on speaking terms but disagreed on the valuation approach and the timeline for transferring ownership.
What we did
We represented one party through four mediation sessions over approximately eight weeks. Before each session we prepared a position brief and reviewed the valuation documents. After session three, a framework for the settlement emerged. We drafted the Thai-law component of the agreement; the client's European counsel handled the portion subject to foreign jurisdiction.
The outcome
Settlement reached and documented within ten weeks of the first mediation session. The client chose not to apply the agreement to the European property immediately, a decision we supported as appropriate to their circumstances. The Thai asset transfer was completed without court involvement.
"The thing I valued most was that Pichit told me clearly when my expectations were unrealistic. That's not what you always want to hear, but it meant I could trust the advice I was getting."
Case Study 02 — Marriage Agreement
The challenge
An international couple — Thai and Australian — wished to formalise their property arrangements after five years of marriage. Neither party had significant current assets, but both expected to inherit from parents in their respective countries, and they wanted clarity on how those future inheritances would be treated.
What we did
We conducted separate intake meetings to understand each party's priorities, then a joint meeting to work through the areas of common ground and the points of difference. The agreement addressed both current and anticipated future assets. We flagged that the Australian element would require confirmation from Australian counsel, which the clients arranged independently.
The outcome
A finalised agreement ready for registration under Thai law, completed in three and a half weeks. Both parties described the process as less difficult than they had anticipated. They received their post-meeting summary within two days of each session and found it useful in preparing for the next one.
"We'd been putting this off for two years. Actually sitting down and doing it was much calmer than I expected — the separate intake meetings helped."
